Womens health in India is of major concern as most of the women are deprived of basic food requirements and are expected high of providing quality life to her family. Just give a deep thought on how well you will be able to work at office or at home if you fail to get the required amount of food or energy. Its not an easy task to go without food. Then why expect the same from women?
This is the hard to digest truth that women are not getting enough nutrition in the country. According to research it is believed that about 55% of women in the country are suffering from malnutrition, 70% from anemia, and more than 50% are suffering from iodine deficiency. It is also revealed that the prevalence of anemia is noticed in about 78% of the lactating women and about 75% of pregnant women. Apart from this many women and adolescent girls around the country are known to suffer from low birth weight, night blindness, neural tube defects, abortions, and still births. This malnutrition and nutrition deficiency is taking them towards physical illness and emotional setbacks.
The social status of women in the country has taken various different forms, out of which malnutrition in the key issue. This has dramatically supported female infanticide, lower literacy levels, higher mortality rate, and lower sex ratio.
Science says that girls and women need for food and energy as compared to boys and men. This is mainly because girls have to undergo various biological cycles, emotional waves, and social bothering. A continuous life cycle covering different stages like puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, delivery, and lactation requires extra calories. Over that the issues of abortion and menopause make women thirst for more drive and energy. Despite of knowing the science and biological cycles of women, it is revealed that out of 100 almost 60 women are unable to survive childbirth. The saddest aspect is that after an abortion or a miscarriage, the demand of child increases in the family but the nutritional care for women decreases. Give a wise thought and make a judgment on how can a woman ever give birth to a child if she herself is not healthy within?
Women are certainly the lifeline of a family. If the nutritional status of women is lowered then it is directly or indirectly going to leave its imprints on the entire family. Though the cases are seen rarely in big cities and towns but rural areas and villages are still living in the world of darkness. Its time to make them recognize and feel the importance of gender equality and women nutrition.
Just remember, One spoon of quality food to a woman is equal to feeding one spoon to the family.

In recent years there have been significant gains in women’s health and education, but gains in women’s economic opportunities have been modest at best. This is not only unfair, but also inefficient, since increased women’s labor force participation and earnings are associated with reduced poverty and faster growth. Women stand to benefit from their economic empowerment, but so do men, children and society as a whole. In sum, in addition to its intrinsic development value, there is a strong business case for expanding women’s economic opportunities: it is smart economics. Renewing attention to women’s economic empowerment and increasing investments in women are ways to promote economic development and reduce poverty.

Headaches can affect a woman’s health. Of the many types of headaches, tension and migraine are the most common. A tension headache is characterized by a dull, overall tightening around the head. Migraine headaches are more severe. They are localized, and throbbing. A migraine is debilitating, often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, and aggravated by motion. Migraines interfere with your ability to work or take care of the kids. They affect women’s health more commonly than men’s — 18% of all women experience migraines while only 6% of men do.
Headaches often lessen for women as they age. However, the hormonal changes prior to and during menopause can also trigger frequent tension and migraine headaches.
Over-the-counter and prescription pain killers can mask the pain of a headache once it’s manifested, but are there preventative measures you can take to avoid even getting a headache altogether? There are:
* There are foods known to trigger headaches. These foods contain nitrites, a chemical used in the preparation of hot dogs, bologna, salami, pepperoni, ham, bacon, and smoked fish. Other likely triggers are MSG (monosodium glutamate), chocolate, liver pate, aged cheese, balsamic vinegar, fresh-baked bread products high in yeast, and most alcoholic beverages, especially red wine and champagne. If you suffer from headaches, cut these items out of your diet for a while and see if it makes a difference.
* Too much daily caffeine (or stopping caffeine entirely and suddenly), can also trigger a headache. If you think you’re drinking too much coffee, cut back or switch to decaf, or eliminate it from your diet all together. If quitting coffee cold causes a headache to kick in, you have to option of ‘biting the bullet’ till it passes, or gradually ‘weaning’ yourself off caffeine products. Switching to tea can also help you get off of coffee as it contains less caffeine.
* Delaying or skipping a meal can also result in a headache. A quick fix for this is a handful of nuts or some fresh fruit if you don’t have time for a full meal.
* Many doctors think that moderate exercise can ease a tension headache, and prevent the onset of migraines. Try an aerobic activity such as walking or swimming for twenty to thirty minutes, a few times a week. Do not, however, try to exercise during a migraine.
Help in the form of vitamins and minerals, and herbal supplements comes from vitamin B2 (riboflavin), magnesium, coenzyme Q10 and possibly feverfew, as shown by recent studies:
* Taking 400 mg of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) daily for three to four months has been reported to help prevent migraines.
* 400 to 600 mg of magnesium daily can help women who get headaches with their periods.
* 150 mg of coenzyme Q10 taken daily may help if you have recurrent migraines.
* Some women find relief from migraines with the herb feverfew.
There are solutions for the menopausal migraine sufferer besides treating the symptoms with painkillers. With regular exercise, the avoidance of commonly known ‘trigger foods’ and helpful nutritional supplements, you can decrease the number of headaches you’re having, or eliminate them altogether.

Like pregnancy, menopause is one of those periods of life when your hormones fluctuate even more than they normally do — so much so that you might experience digestive troubles similar to those of a pregnant woman. Indigestion, flatulence, gas and nausea are all possibilities. This is annoying if it happens to you, but there are natural supplements available that can improve the digestive aspects of women’s health.
The cause of hormone-induced digestive troubles has two aspects:
* Estrogen is a gastrointestinal stimulant, and varying levels can have you alternating between loose and dry stools.
* Your liver can become fatigued in its attempt to break down the excess hormones produced during menopause.
One function of the liver is to ‘recycle’ excess substances. When hormones circulating in the blood are no longer needed, the liver breaks down their ‘parts’ to make them available for the production of more hormones. Some hormones are produced in such enormous quantities during menopause that the liver gets overloaded, and does not devote the normal energy to the digestion of food. Thus, indigestion.
How to Help Your Digestive System Naturally
If you suffer from either diarrhea or constipation, try taking a fiber supplement. Though fiber softens stools and is usually taken to relieve constipation, it also has a “bulking up” effect, and can bulk up stools enough to slow things down if you’re suffering from diarrhea. Pysllium husk is a common fiber supplement used for this.
Doctors prescribe something called the BRATTY diet for diarrhea that is not caused by an infection. The BRATTY diet consists of:
* B – bananas
* R – rice
* A – applesauce
* T – toast
* T – tea
* Y – Yogurt
Bananas replace lost potassium and firm the stools. Rice and toast also firm the stools, but must be eaten plain. Applesauce contains pectin, a natural bulking agent. Tea replaces lost fluids, but again, drink plain. Yogurt contains protein and replaces the helpful bacteria that can be lost after a couple days of diarrhea. Make sure the yogurt contains ‘live cultures.’
Now let’s look at the second scenario — indigestion.
Enzymes are substances that accelerate and control chemical reactions. Papain is an enzyme found in the papaya fruit. Papain breaks down proteins. Papaya enzyme supplements taken after a meal can help you to digest proteins and help your liver when it’s handling a hormone overload. This relieves heartburn, gas and nausea.
Don’t wait till you’re hit with diarrhea, constipation, flatulence or heartburn — a regular intake of extra fiber and papain supplements will keep your digestive system working more smoothly and help you maintain good women’s health.

The Jubilee Project made this video to honor moms around the world because we were inspired by the love and care we received from our own moms. Moms mean a lot to all of us. Yet, every year 7 million women are injured and 350000 women die from complications due to childbirth. These deaths, however, are preventable by providing basic maternal health care. For every view that we get on this video, Jubilee Project sponsors will donate a penny to Every Mother Counts, an organization dedicated to improving maternal health in developing countries. Together, let’s help build a world where children won’t have to live without moms. You can help moms in a few ways: 1. Share this video with your friends and of course your mom to let her know how much she means to you. 2. Become a sponsor of the video and pledge to donate a penny per view to Every Mother Counts.
